Abstract: I will present the design and testing of RAVEN (Rapid, on-source VOEvent Coincident Monitor) - a low-latency framework developed by the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA collaboration for multi-messenger searches. This pipeline quickly assigns statistical significance to gravitational-wave triggers coincident with external triggers like electromagnetic waves and neutrinos. It computes coincident ranking statistics for these events, incorporating sky localization data, and issues alerts to astronomers within a minute. Such prompt analysis is crucial since astrophysical transient signals fade rapidly, enabling timely follow-up studies that yield deeper insights into source objects and underlying physical processes. I will demonstrate RAVEN’s effectiveness with the real-world example of the coincident detection of GW170817 and GRB170817A.
