Title: Unlocking the scientific potential of NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Satellite (TESS) with machine learning
Abstract: Astronomy is entering the era of big data through the continuous delivery of millions of observations by both ground- and space-based observatories each day. The brightness observations of stars that are being delivered by NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Satellite (TESS) contain a wealth of information for stellar variability and asteroseismology studies. We therefore designed a machine learning classifier to hunt for the different types pulsating stars among the millions of TESS light curves. Obtaining these large sets of pulsating star observations is of key importance for asteroseismology, as they can be used as input for learning fully data-driven machine learning models that can probe the interior physics of stars on an unprecedented scale.
